Join our special guest scientist and film fan, Dr Declan McKenna, as he explains the tricks which horror film directors use to frighten us, while also exploring the science behind the emotional and psychological responses we experience when we watch a scary movie.
The talk is followed by a screening of the acclaimed “scariest movie ever”, Ridley Scott’s Alien (1979), a MUST see on the big screen.
A free Out of this World cocktail / mocktail is included on arrival.
The S-Team Takeover Initiative is a pilot event for the 2019 Festival as part of the Year of Youth. Through this initiative, a team of young people (aged 16 – 24) were tasked with curating an entire day of Science Festival activity. The scheme provides young people with skills in science and event management, helping them to gain confidence, team building and management skills. There are three events happening as part of this initiative
