Saturday 16 February, 2:15 pm - 3:15 pm

Suitability: 18+

Free. Booking essential.

A talk on the astronomer Annie Maunder continues the annual series on scientists from Northern Ireland organised by the Belfast Natural History and Philosophical Society. Born in Strabane in 1868, Annie Maunder revolutionised our understanding of solar astronomy by discovering the butterfly diagram, and paved the way for future generations of women researchers. This talk by Professor Silvia Dalla, a solar physicist at the University of Central Lancashire and an expert on the work of Annie Maunder, will be a great opportunity to learn about an exceptional scientist from Ulster and more about our nearest star.
